The Monarch - Journal page

Here once again with a journal page this time.

I've been having so much fun learning new things. I even put together a 'How To' video so you can see how the page came together. (See the video below)

With the help and recommendations from some of the other DT members here at 49 and Market Videoing and editing has become one of my new learning curves. Just when I thought this ol' brain couldn't learn more technology, low and behold it manages to comprehend something new. As they say, neve too old! So stay tuned for lots more how to videos using 49 and Market products to come, as I learn along the way....

Did you know 49 and Market has an Instagram page, a Youtube channel and we're also on Pinterest. All of these places have a wealth of inspiration for you to explore.

You can find them HERE for Instagram

This was a quick and easy page to put together once I got going. I mainly used paper from the beautiful Vintage Artistry Essentials 6x8 Collection Pack and as usual was blown away with the laser cuts elements in this collection pack.

I did use a piece of paper from Vintage Artistry Wedgewood Collection called Revel which I didn't realize has been retired. But the best thing about the new 6x8 collection packs is there is co ordinating basic colours to match the prints so I'm sure you'll find something in there as a contrast, or like me have some Revel in you stash! I used  rub-ons transfers from the Vintage Artistry Sky/Navy set, some awesome Wedgewood washi tape and finished off with some of the new Vintage Artistry Essentials Wishing Bubbles and Trinkets, some shading and a splash of white paint.

Special Moments

I know this post is so soon after my last but back again showcasing the NEW Vintage Artistry Essentials in a layout.

What a beautiful natural collection, created by 49 and Market along with designer Katie Pertiet. I used the Vintage Artistry Essential 12x12 Collection Pack and also the Vintage Artistry Essential 6x8 Collection Pack.

These moments spent with family are so precious. My Granddaughter Cadence wanted to learn how to fish and who better to teach her than her 81yr old Great Grandad. He's a pro and such a trooper. During a family beach fishing competition he made the hard trek (for him) onto the beach because he knew how excited she was. We're so blessed to be able to have these family times and I will treasure memories like this forever more. I don't think Cadence realized at the time how special times like this are. I know when she looks back on pages and memories like this it will come to her. This is why I love scrapbooking as a craft, so much. It not only gets us creating but showcases our memories and documents these kind of moments.

I started with the Vintage Artistry Essential - Virtue paper as my base. I played with pieces from the laser cut sheets from both the Vintage Artistry Essentials 12x12 Collection Pack and it's little Mini Me Collection, the 6x8 Collection pack. Once I chose the pieces I wanted to use I used a sharp blade to cut around the leaves on the left side of the Virtue paper so that the leaves could sit over the frames. I layered paper and laser cut pieces behind frames.

I love, love, love the twig wreath from the sheet. To add some texture behind the wreath I added some jute. I chose the 5ply jute, but pulled individual threads from the length I cut. I applied some foam tape (for height) and normal tape, to spots at the back of the wreath, stuck the jute, loosely and some dyed muslin in place and then adhered it to the page.

When you separate the plaited jute the individual threads of jute have a kink to them. Like braided hair when you take the braid out. I really like the effect. Plus if you run out of the single ply you can separate the 5ply!

I played with placement of the other laser cut pieces until I was happy and glued them in place over the wreath. I then tuck some wire pieces from the Sugar Petals - Blue Raspberry pack. Added a little curve to them and glued them in place as part of the flower arrangement on the wreath.

To finish off I added the quote and words along with rub-on transfers from three different pack. (see the product list for each one.)
